How this Visa Works
On this page
This visa allows certain senior executives in charge of an Australian office of an overseas organisation to bring to Australia a domestic worker from overseas to work in their private household in Australia. This visa recognises the representational and entertainment responsibilities of those executives while working in Australia.
Sponsorship
If the executive is sponsored by an organisation in Australia
If the executive is sponsored by an organisation in Australia for their Business (Long Stay) (subclass 457) visa, you must be sponsored by that same organisation.
You should not lodge your visa application until you have received confirmation that sponsorship has been approved.
If the executive is not sponsored by an organisation in Australia
If the executive is not sponsored by an organisation for their Business (Long Stay) visa (subclass 457) you do not require sponsorship.
Work rights
While you are in Australia you can work only in the position nominated in your visa application.
Bringing family
The following people may be included in your application.
- your spouse
- your dependent children
- other dependent relatives living with you.
See: Family Member Definitions
Visa validity period
You can stay in Australia for up to two (2) years or for the term of the executive's stay in Australia as the holder of a Business (Long Stay) visa (subclass 457), whichever is the earlier date.
Labour market testing
Full labour market testing will be required in order to show that the executive has been unable to find a suitable person in Australia for the relevant position unless the executive can demonstrate compelling reasons for employing you.
Extending your stay
If while in Australia you decide to apply for a further visa to extend your stay, you will need to complete a new visa application and attach appropriate evidence to support the purpose of your stay.
If sponsorship is required, the sponsor will need to lodge a new sponsorship application.
The sponsorship and visa applications should be lodged well in advance of the expiry date of your current visa.
