Obligations
When you are granted a visa you must meet the following obligations.
Applicant's obligations
You can work in Australia, but you:
- can only work in the household of your employer
- can only undertake domestic duties
- can not work for another person or for yourself
- must seek the agreement of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) if you wish to transfer your employment and enter into a new employment agreement in the household of another eligible diplomatic (Subclass 995) visa holder.
You must continue to be a person who would satisfy the primary criteria for the grant of the visa.
Change in circumstances
You must also notify this department of any change in your circumstances that may breach your visa conditions. For example, if you stop working for your employer.

Employer obligations
Your employer must employ you in accordance with the standards for wages and working conditions under relevant Australian law.
DFAT requires your employer to take responsibility for ensuring your departure from Australia, including the costs of travel, on the completion of your employment.
