About this Visa
This visa provides for the temporary stay of:
- Journalists, correspondents or reporters representing overseas news organisations
- television or film crew, including actors, production and support staff
and still-photographers, involved in the production of documentary programs
or commercials where the initial point of distribution is for use outside
Australia.
Note: If your documentary program or commercials will be screened in Australia, you will need to apply for the Entertainment visa.

A documentary program is defined by the Australian Broadcasting Authority as a program that is a creative treatment of actuality other than news, current affairs, sports coverage, magazine, infotainment, or light entertainment program.
Who is this visa for?
This visa is for media and film staff from overseas who are involved in the production of documentary programs or commercials in Australia which will initially be distributed outside Australia.
Overseas media staff intending to film or take photographs in Australian National Parks for commercial purposes, should also apply for this visa.
How much will this visa cost?
You must pay a non-refundable visa application charge when you lodge your visa application.

What does this visa let me do?
With this visa you can:
- do media work in Australia for a company or production house outside Australia
- stay in Australia for as long as your visa is valid
- bring eligible family members with you.
