This visa is for skilled people who want to come to Australia under an exchange arrangement for a temporary stay to broaden their work experience and skills.
You can lodge your application either in or outside of Australia.
Staff Exchange
To seek to enter Australia under a staff exchange the following must apply:
- the position you will be working in must be skilled
- an Australian must have an opportunity for experience in an overseas organisation
- the exchange must benefit you and the Australian resident.
Government to Government agreements
To seek to enter Australia under a government agreement between Australia and another country, the following must apply:
- the department must be satisified that the application meets the requirements of the agreement
- you must provide evidence that your stay in Australia under the agreement has been agreed to by the relevant government authorities in Australia and the other country.
Visa validity period
You can stay in Australia for a maximum of two (2) years or for the period of the exchange, whichever is the earlier.
Extending your stay
If while in Australia you apply for a further visa to extend your stay you will need to complete a new application and attach appropriate evidence.
Bringing family
The following people may be included in your application:
- your spouse
- your or your spouse's dependent children
- other dependent relatives.
