Migration Agent Fees

The fees charged by a migration agent are expected to be reasonable. While the fees are not set, the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (Office of the MARA) website provides details of average fees charged by registered migration agents. These fees are indicative only and are not set or endorsed by the Australian Government.

Fees charged by agents for their services are determined between each client and their agent.

Questions to ask your agent about fees

Ask your agent:

  • what services will you provide for me?
  • what is the cost of this service?
  • do I pay a fee in advanceor do I pay as the services are delivered?
  • what experience do you have in migration cases?
  • how successful have you been with migration cases?

Why do fees vary?

An agent might charge lower fees due to:

  • their inexperience as an agent
  • their desire to enter a particular market
  • their desire to assist in unusual circumstances
  • the ease of that particular application
  • the applicant having already partly completed the application
  • the current marketplace fee levels.

An agent might charge higher fees due to:

  • their level of experience as a migration agent
  • the specific difficulties or complexities of a particular case
  • the costs associated with running a larger business or practice
  • the desire of the applicant for higher personal levels of service.
