About this visa

Emergency rescue is an accelerated processing arrangement for people who satisfy refugee criteria and whose lives or freedom depends on urgent resettlement. 

Places in this visa subclass are limited

The cases are referred to the Australia by the UNHCR and the applicant must be assessed to be in a situation where delays due to normal processing could put their life or freedom in danger.

Who is this visa for?

To be eligible for this visa:

  • the applicant must be subject to persecution in their home country; and
  • there must be urgent and compelling reasons for them to be resettled in Australia.
