Financial requirements

You must declare on your application that you have enough money to pay for travel to Australia and living expenses while you are in Australia for yourself and any dependent children under six years of age included in your application.

The table below outlines the amounts in Australian dollars (A$) that you need access to. These amounts do not necessarily represent the cost of living in Australia. These costs are additional to the financial requirements of the student who nominated you as their guardian.

Expenses Per Person Amount Required in A$
Travel Yourself Return air fare to Australia
Children aged under 6 (if applicable) One return air fare to Australia per child
Living Yourself A$12,000 per year
First child aged under 6 (if applicable) A$2,400 per year
Each other child aged under 6 (if applicable) A$1,800 per year

The amount, type and source of acceptable funds, and the savings period for funds varies with the assessment level of the student who nominated you as their guardian.

Please read all the financial details for the assessment level of the student for whom you will be the guardian.
