Professional Development Visa (Subclass 470)
Step 3 - Lodge Professional Development Visa Application/s
When the sponsorship has been approved, the professional development sponsor may lodge visa applications on behalf of the overseas participants in their approved professional development program. Visa applications can only be accepted if the applicant is outside Australia. Approved professional development sponsors provide all information, documentation and fees on behalf of each of the overseas participants in their program.

Fees and Charges
Although overseas participants do not lodge visa applications themselves they must:
- provide their sponsor with all the information required to lodge the visa application, on their behalf
- sign Part E of the Application for a Professional Development visa,
(Form 1227) which gives consent to the professional development sponsor to act on their behalf in relation to the visa application and sign the Applicant's Declaration (Part I).
Note: Family members of an overseas participant cannot be included in the professional development visa application submitted on behalf of the overseas participant.
The completed form, associated documentation and relevant fee is lodged by the approved professional development sponsor at the Hobart Professional Development Visa Processing Centre.
