Overseas Participant Obligations

Before lodging any applications, the professional development sponsor must ensure that overseas participants understand their obligations relating to any established professional development program.

Overseas participants in a professional development program must:

  • comply with Australia's immigration laws
  • comply with the conditions of their Professional Development visa
  • advise the department of any change in personal circumstances which may affect their eligibility to participate in the program
  • pay any of the participant costs for which they are liable under the professional development agreement
  • participate fully in the professional development program
  • maintain health insurance for the duration of their stay in Australia.

Note: Overseas participants must not pay their tuition for the professional development program.
