- Australian nominating organisation (the nominator)
An Australian nominating organisation:
- is an established organisation that is actively operating in Australia
or - is an Australian government organisation.
- is an established organisation that is actively operating in Australia
- Dependent child
A dependent child is the natural or adopted child, or step-child, of the trainee or their spouse who:
- is not married, engaged to be married or in a de facto relationship and
- has not turned 18
or - if they have turned 18, are wholly or substantially reliant on the trainee or their spouse for their basic needs, or are incapacitated for work.
- Occupational trainee (the trainee)
An occupational trainee is someone who:
- undertakes an occupational training program in Australia
- lodges their own occupational trainee visa application.
Family members may be eligible to join the trainee in Australia for the period of the training program.
- Spouse
A spouse is a person who is married to the trainee or is in a de facto relationship with the trainee.
