Who will have access to my details in SkillSelect?
As part of the EOI process, you will be asked to select the skilled visa(s) you are interested in submitting an EOI for. You can express interest in one or more visa(s).
If you choose to be considered for a state or territory or employer sponsored visa, you are agreeing to allow state or territory governments and/or employers to access your details in SkillSelect.
Employers are not able to view any identifying information such as your name, date of birth, gender, or nationality. Employers can only access information that will help them to consider you for employment; this could include your occupation, your work experience, and your level of English ability.
If you express interest for only the independent or family sponsored visas, the information recorded in your EOI will only be available to the department.
Can I submit an EOI if I have not completed an English language test, skills assessment or Job Ready program?
If you are submitting an EOI for a points based visa, you must have completed an English language test, skills assessment or job ready program (if applicable) before you submit a complete EOI.
You do not need to attach documents to your EOI. However, you must enter accurate information in your EOI that matches the information on the supporting documents.
How can I find out where I am ranked if I'm interested in a points based visa?
When you submit your completed EOI, you will be shown your points score. You will not be able to view your ranking position because this will change as other EOIs are submitted and/or withdrawn from SkillSelect.
After each invitation round for the skilled independent and skilled regional (provisional) visas, the department will publish on this website the lowest scoring points test mark that allowed an EOI to be invited for each relevant subclass. This will give you an indication of your potential for receiving an invitation in future rounds.
Can I submit an EOI in Australia?
If submitting an EOI in Australia, you should understand that:
- the EOI is not a visa application, and you would not be granted a bridging visa
- if you are invited to lodge a visa application, you must meet the requirements to be granted that visa.
Will I need to provide a written statement in my EOI?
You do not need to provide a written statement when you submit your EOI. The EOI will ask questions based on the visa(s) you are interested in. The answers you provide will contain enough information for your EOI to be submitted.
If I am not invited can I be reimbursed for the skills assessment and English language test?
There is no guarantee that submitting an EOI will result in an invitation to apply for a visa. You are responsible for any costs in preparing an EOI.
What if my circumstances change after submitting my EOI?
If your circumstances change, you are required to update your EOI in SkillSelect. You should update your details to reflect any additional qualifications or experience you have obtained. SkillSelect will automatically take the changes into account and, if appropriate, will update your ranking. This may increase your chances to be invited.
If I am not invited to lodge a visa application, will I be entitled to review rights?
An EOI is not a visa application. You cannot access merits review by the Migration Review Tribunal.
The review process is for eligible people whose visa application has been refused or cancelled. For more information regarding merits review, please visit the Migration Review Tribunal website.
If you want to express concerns to the department regarding the selection process, you can access the department’s feedback form.
Is there a form I can post in?
All EOIs must be submitted online using SkillSelect. If you are invited to apply for a visa, the information you submit in your EOI will be used as part of your application. You are required to confirm your claims and submit evidence at the time you apply. The information you supply in your EOI must be correct. If the information you supply in your EOI is not correct there could be adverse consequences for your visa application.
Can I use a migration agent?
You can choose to use a migration agent to assist you in submitting an EOI.
You will only have one login to access your EOI account. You can only specify one email address to be contacted by SkillSelect about any invitations or messages in relation to your EOI account. All email notifications will be sent to the email address you nominate and it will be your responsibility to ensure you can access your emails and update your account with any change of email address.
