Applicants - Help Australian employers find you
On this page
Increase your chances of being offered a job in Australia by having your qualifications and employment history listed on the Skill Matching Database. The database is accessed by employers and State and Territory governments who may then nominate you for migration.
A key advantage of the Skill Matching Database is that it may help you to find a job before arriving in Australia. The Skill Matching Database is not a job search facility.
Basic requirements
To apply for a General Skilled Migration visa, you must:
- be under 45 years of age at time of application
- have good English language ability
- have recent skilled work experience or two years study in Australia.
- have the skills and qualifications for an occupation listed on Australia's Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
See: Skilled Occupation List (132KB PDF file)
For your details to be included on the Skill Matching Database, you must be applying for one of the following:
- Skilled – Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175)
- Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) visa (subclass 176)
- Skilled – Independent (Residence) visa (subclass 885)
- Skilled – Sponsored (Residence) visa (subclass 886)
Other visa options
Once you have applied for one of the above visas, and your details have been entered onto the Skill Matching Database, you may be nominated for migration by an employer or State/Territory government.
The database is designed to link applicants for nomination with:
- employers in certain areas of Australia who are seeking to fill a specific skilled vacancy through the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS).
