Skill Matching Database
Skill Matching Database ceases operating on 1 July 2012
From 1 July 2012 the Skill Matching Database is no longer operational.
The department announced on 1 July 2011 that the Skill Matching Database will be decommissioned in a phased approach:
- Phase 1: No new applicants were added to the database after 30 June 2011
- Phase 2: The database will be shutdown on 1 July 2012.
The decision to decommission the Skill Matching Database coincides with the introduction on 1 July 2012 of a new skilled migrant selection register, SkillSelect.
SkillSelect is an online system that enables skilled workers interested in migrating to Australia to record their details to be considered for a skilled visa through an Expression of Interest (EOI). Intending migrants can register their interest in being selected for independent (non sponsored) migration or seek nomination for a skilled visa from Australian employers or state and territory governments
