Applying for this Visa


If the sponsor and sponsored applicants are eligible, willing and able to meet their obligations under the visa, they can commence the 3-step application process.

Step 1 - Executive applies to be a sponsor

The employer must complete an application to be a sponsor.

Step 2 - Sponsor nominates a position

Your sponsor must nominate the position to be filled.

Step 3 - Applicant applies for the visa

The visa applicant must lodge a visa application for this visa.

Renewing a visa

If while in Australia you apply for a further visa to extend your stay you will need to complete a new application and attach appropriate evidence.  The executive must lodge a sponsorship and nomination if a valid sponsorship or nomination does not already exist. To renew a visa follow the applicable steps above.

Renewing sponsorship

A sponsor may be approved for up to three years. In order to continue to employ people from overseas they will need to reapply before their sponsor approval ceases. To renew a sponsorship follow the applicable steps above.

Transitional arrangements for sponsorship visa applications lodged before 14 September 2009

On 14 September 2009, changes came into affect regarding sponsorship requirements for Specialist Entry visas. Transitional arrangements are in place for visa and sponsorship applications lodged before 14 September.
