Employer eligibility

Eligible person

The employer must:

• be a holder of a Diplomatic visa (subclass 995) and accredited as a diplomat or consular officer in Australia
• not be a permanent resident of Australia
• have the support of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to employ a domestic worker
• enter into an employment agreement with you as the domestic worker
• employ you in accordance with the standards for wages and working conditions under relevant Australian law.

DFAT also requires that the employer advise DFAT of your first arrival and final departure from Australia.
