Specialist Entry

Primary Applicant Obligations

If your visa application for a temporary visa is approved, the following conditions will apply to you.

You must not:

  • cease to undertake the activity in relation to which the visa was granted
  • engage in an activity inconsistent with the activity in relation to which the visa was granted
  • engage in work for another person or on your own account inconsistent with the activity in relation to which the visa was granted
  • receive a salary without permission from the department.

You must maintain adequate health insurance whilst in Australia and holding a temporary resident visa.

If the sponsor ceases your employment or activity, you must do one of the following:

  • find another employer who is willing to sponsor you; or
  • leave Australia within 28 days unless your visa expires before that time, in which case you must leave Australia prior to visa expiry.

Changing sponsor

If you decide to work for another organisation while in Australia you will need to be sponsored by the new organisation and have them lodge a nomination. When the new nomination is approved you will be able to work for that organisation for the period remaining on your visa without having to reapply for a new visa.

There may be other conditions of your entry and stay in Australia not discussed here. If so, these will be explained to you when you are granted the visa.
