How and where to apply

Sponsors can apply for approval as a special program sponsor through the department.
See: Hobart Special Program Processing Centre

After the sponsor applies

The application for sponsorship will be considered by the department. In some cases the sponsor may be asked to provide additional information to enable a decision to be made.

If the application is approved, the department will send the sponsor a sponsor approval letter by post or email. This letter is to be retained and a copy provided to each applicant the sponsor invites to participate in their special program. The visa applicant will be required to provide, with their visa application, the sponsor approval letter or a receipt that the sponsorship application has been lodged.

If the sponsorship is not approved, the department will send the sponsor a refusal letter by post or email advising of the decision, reasons for the decision and information about any review rights.
