About this Visa


This visa allows skilled people to come to Australia for a temporary stay to broaden their work experience and skills. This visa has reciprocal arrangements to allow Australian residents similar opportunities overseas.

The visa is designed to:

  • promote opportunities for people to experience other cultures
  • enhance international relations
  • broaden the experience and knowledge of participants.

Who is this visa for?

This visa is for skilled people entering under exchange arrangements, giving Australian residents reciprocal opportunities to work with overseas organisations.
Note: People wanting to enter Australia under the terms of a bilateral agreement are provided for by the Government Agreement Visa (subclass 406).

How much will this visa cost?

You must pay a non-refundable visa charge when you lodge your visa application.

What does this visa let me do?

With this visa you can:

  • stay and work in the nominated position Australia for the period of the exchange agreement with a maximum stay of two years
  • bring any eligible secondary applicants with you to Australia (secondary applicants can work and study)
  • leave and enter Australia as many times as you want while your visa is valid.
