Completing your Visa Application

Order of lodgement

The sponsorship, nomination and visa application can be lodged at the same time or sequentially.

Note: Neither the visa application nor the nomination application can be lodged before the sponsorship application, and a Subclass 457 visa cannot be approved without a valid nomination.

How to apply

If you are sponsored by an Australian business, you can apply online, in person, by post or by courier.

You can apply for this visa while you are in Australia, only if the last visa you held is not a Transit visa (Subclass 771) or a Special Purpose visa.

If you are sponsored by an overseas business, you can only apply by post or by courier.
