Labour Agreements
Definitions
- Agreement
Labour Agreements are formal arrangements that specify the terms and conditions against which Commonwealth agrees to let an employer nominate overseas workers to work in Australia on a temporary and/or permanent basis. The terms and conditions reflect employers’ obligations in regards to matters such as: training Australians; recruitment of Australians; salary and other employee costs to be met by the employer; plans to reduce the employer’s reliance on overseas workers.
- Nomination
-
The nomination is the request made by the employer to identify the:
- positions to be filled
- skills and experience required for the position.
- Visa Application
-
The visa application is made by the employee to allow them to work in Australia. A visa application is also made by the dependents of the employee to allow them to enter and stay in Australia with the employee. The visa application must be lodged and granted before the agreement and nomination expires.
