Applicant Eligibility

To be eligible for this visa you must meet the following requirements.
Eligible person
You may be eligible for this visa if you are an educational worker who will be employed to fill a position:
- at an Australian tertiary education institution or research institution as:
- an academic
- a librarian
- a technician
- a laboratory demonstrator
- a researcher
- as a teacher at a school or technical college (that is not a tertiary institution).
An applicant for this visa must have suitable qualifications, skills and experience for the position.
Sponsorship
Sponsorship is required if your visit to Australia is for more than three (3) months.
If sponsorship is required, you should not lodge your visa application until you have received confirmation that sponsorship has been approved.

Supporting documentation
The documents that you need to provide are:
- a letter of appointment from the administrative office/Registrar's office of the organisation offering the position. The letter should confirm:
- appointment is full–time
- duration of the appointment
- proposed number of hours a week to be worked (for positions other than a senior academic or scientific research)
- job title and duties
- proposed salary and other remuneration
- if the position is to undertake research, the academic level at which the research will be undertaken
- certified copies of educational qualifications
- certified copies of employment references
- curriculum vitae
- evidence from a relevant Australian registration or licensing authority that you hold or will be able to meet necessary registration or licensing requirements (if applicable).
Health requirements
You must meet health requirements and may need to undergo a health examination.

Private health insurance
Private health insurance is available and is strongly recommended, but it is not a requirement for the grant of this visa.

Character requirements
You must be of good character to enter Australia.

Australian Values Statement
All visa applicants aged 18 years or over, must declare that they will respect Australian values and obey the laws of Australia. For applicants of this visa, the values statement is included in the general declaration section of the application form. By signing the form applicants will also be signing the values statement. Applicants for this visa will not be required to have read the Life in Australia book, but may do so if they wish.
Visa applicants are also encouraged to gain an understanding of Australia, its people and their way of life, before applying for this visa.
