Health and Character requests for persons affected by the closure of Capital Investment Scheme

The Department has been advised that in recent weeks, some applicants who have been affected by the closure of the Capital Investment Scheme are receiving letters from the Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre (ASPC) requesting that they undergo further Health and Character checks.  Applicants who are in the affected caseload and have recently received a letter from the Department need to note the following information.

Onshore Applicants

If you are currently the holder of a Bridging visa A and have recently travelled overseas on a Bridging visa B, on your return to Australia you would have been issued with a new 'Request Letter'.  This is an automatically generated system letter which asks applicant’s to provide new health and character information.  Applicants who have received this letter do not need to take any further action at this stage.  When a decision has been met on the Capital Investment issue, you will be requested to provide new health and character information by your case officer if necessary.

If you are currently the holder of a Bridging visa A, have not recently travelled overseas and have received a letter from the department requesting new health and character information be provided, this may be because your occupation is now listed on the Migration Occupations on Demand List (MODL).  If your nominated occupation is now listed on MODL, you will be requested to provide new health and character information as your application may now meet the prescribed pass mark for the visa for which you have applied.

Offshore Applicants

If you are currently residing overseas and have recently received a letter from the department requesting new Health and Character information be provided, this may be because your occupation is now listed on the MODL.  If your nominated occupation is now listed on MODL, you will be requested to provide new health and character information as your application may now meet the prescribed pass mark for the visa for which you have applied for.

For further information on occupations now listed on MODL.

If the above mentioned scenarios do not address your current situation and you have still received a letter from the department, please contact the ASPC to seek clarification.
