Skilled – Sponsored (Residence) Visa (Subclass 886)
What You Need to Apply for this Visa
At the time you apply for this visa, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- you are under 45 years of age unless you hold a Skilled – Graduate visa (subclass 485)
- all applicants are in Australia and hold eligible visas
- you have an eligible relative sponsor living in Australia or a nomination from a State or Territory government
- you have nominated either a 60–point occupation or a 50–point occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
See: Skilled Occupation Lists (formerly known as Form 1121i) - you have obtained a suitable skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for your nominated occupation
- you meet the English language threshold
- all persons included in your application have booked health examinations at Medibank Health Solutions (formerly known as Health Services Australia or HSA) for this application
- all persons included in your application who are aged 16 years or over have in the last 12 months applied to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for a check of criminal records
- you have paid the correct visa application fee
- you have lodged your:
- paper application (form 1276) with the Adelaide Skilled Processing centre (ASPC)
or - online application (eVisa) with the Brisbane Skilled Processing Centre (BSPC).
- paper application (form 1276) with the Adelaide Skilled Processing centre (ASPC)
Depending on your circumstances, you must also meet the following requirements at the time you make your application:
If you are an overseas student you must provide evidence that:
- you meet the two years academic study in Australia requirement
- the qualification/s you have completed are closely related to your nominated skilled occupation.
If you hold a Skilled – Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476) or a Skilled – Graduate visa (subclass 485) you must provide evidence that the qualification/s you completed are closely related to your nominated occupation.
If you hold a Trade Skills Training visa (subclass 471) you must provide evidence that:
- you have completed the apprenticeship for which your visa was granted
- your apprenticeship is closely related to your nominated occupation.
You must make sure that you can meet these requirements at the time you lodge your application. If your application does not meet the minimum requirements, either:
- you will not be considered as having made an application, which means your papers and any monies paid will be returned to you
or - your application will be refused.
