Concessions for the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 857)

There are concessions available for holders of the following provisional visas:

  • Skilled – Independent Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 495)
  • Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 475)
  • Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 487).

Reduced visa application charge

You pay a reduced visa application charge as you have already paid one migration visa application charge.
See: Form 990i - Charges ( 85KB PDF file)

Age

You will be eligible for a waiver of the 'age' requirement.

This concession only applies if you are the main applicant for both the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 857) and your provisional visa.

Skills assessment

You do not need to have your skills re–assessed by the relevant Australian assessing authority provided you are nominating the same occupation in your permanent visa application that you nominated in your provisional visa application.

If you nominate a different occupation then a new skills assessment may be required.

The Skilled Occupation List (SOL) sets out the relevant assessing authority for each occupation on the list. Contact details for these authorities are available at the end of the SOL.
See: Skilled Occupation Lists (formerly known as Form 1121i)

English language

You do not need to have your English language ability re-assessed.

This is because you have already been assessed as having at least a 'vocational' standard of English language ability.

You should read all of the information about this visa before you apply.
