Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 487)

Existing Provisional Visa Holders

If you need more time to meet the residence and/or employment criteria for a permanent visa, you can apply to extend your visa.

To be eligible, you must hold one of the following provisional skilled visas:

  • Skilled – Independent Regional (Provisional) (subclass 495) visa
  • Skilled – Designated Area – Sponsored (Provisional) (subclass 496) visa
  • Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) (subclass 475) visa
  • Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) (subclass 487) visa.

You must be able to demonstrate that you have met all of the conditions on your current visa.

If your application is successful, you will be granted a Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 487) that expires four years after your first provisional skilled visa was granted.

Note: You can only be granted a total of two provisional skilled visas. No further extensions are permitted.
