Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 487)
Eligible visa
You and all secondary applicants must hold an eligible visa. You meet this requirement if any one of the following applies to you:
- you hold an eligible Student visa
Note: An eligible Student visa is any student visa other than a visa in the following student categories. These visas are non-eligible Student visas:- ELICOS
- non-award course
- AusAid/Defence sector
- Australian government (including State/Territory)-assisted
- foreign government-assisted
- multilateral agency-assisted.
- you hold a Bridging visa A or Bridging visa B after applying for any visa other than a non-eligible Student visa and have also held an eligible Student visa in the last six (6) months
- you hold a substantive visa other than a non-eligible Student visa and have also held an eligible Student visa in the last six (6) months
- you held an eligible Student visa which was cancelled and in the last 28 days the Migration Review Tribunal notified you of a decision to set aside and substitute the cancellation or the Minister's decision not to revoke the cancellation
- you hold a Skilled – Recognised Graduate visa (subclass 476)
- you hold a Skilled – Graduate visa (subclass 485)
- you hold a Trade Skills Training visa (subclass 471) and you have held that visa for a period of at least two (2) years
- you hold a Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) and you have been in Australia on that visa for at least six (6) months
- you hold an Occupational Trainee visa (subclass 442), and you have completed the period of training for which your visa was granted.
In addition, you and any accompanying secondary applicants must not:
- have had a visa application refused or cancelled since last entering Australia unless you hold a substantive visa
- have any conditions on your current visa that prevent you from making a further application to remain in Australia, such as condition 8503, 8534 or 8535. If you have condition 8534 attached to your current visa, you should apply for the Skilled-Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa using the paper-based Form 1276 which includes an application to have the condition waived.
