State or Territory Government Nomination – Eligibility

You must have a nomination from a participating state or territory government if you do not have an eligible relative sponsor.
See: State and Territory Governments Who Can Offer Nominations

Evidence to attach to your application

If you contacted the nominating state or territory government directly, you must include evidence of nomination with your application. This can include a letter issued to you by the nominating state or territory government or a reference number. The nominating state or territory will also complete a state or territory government nomination form and send it to the department after you have lodged your visa application. To enable them to lodge the nomination form, you will need to provide your nominating state or territory government with your Transaction Reference Number which you will receive when you lodge your online application. If you apply using a paper form, please provide them with your file number.

If a state or territory government chooses to nominate you from the Skill Matching Database, they will send the completed state or territory government nomination form to the department and recommend that the department continue the processing of your visa application.

If you do not have a state or territory government nomination

If you do not have a state or territory government nomination, you will need to be sponsored by an eligible relative.
See: Eligible Relative Sponsorship
