Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 487)

Apprenticeship closely related to nominated occupation

You must meet this requirement if you hold a Trade Skills Training visa (subclass 471).

To make sure that you are sufficiently qualified for your nominated occupation, you must have completed your apprenticeship and your apprenticeship must be closely related to your nominated occupation. This means that you must be able to use the skills gained from your apprenticeship in your nominated occupation, at the level you achieved them.

Evidence to attach to your application

You must obtain documentary evidence of having completed your Australian apprenticeship and that your apprenticeship is closely related to your nominated skilled occupation.  This evidence includes:

  • a certified copy of notification of your results

and one of the following:

  • trade certificate (if available)
  • a letter of completion from your educational institution which details:
    • the name of your course
    • the qualification you have obtained
    • the pattern of study - full time versus part time
