Sponsored Business Visitor (Short Stay) Visa (Subclass 459)
After You Lodge Your Application
On this page
A business visitor must not make arrangements to travel to Australia until advised that their visa has been granted.
Processing time
The time it takes to assess each application may vary. Processing times will differ depending on your and other circumstances.
Interview Requirements
The department will contact the business visitor if they are required to attend an interview. They may be requested to bring their passport and other supporting documentation to the interview.
If the visa is approved
If the visa is approved, the department will send a letter titled, "Notification of Grant", to the sponsor. The sponsor then forwards a copy of this letter to the business visitor. The business visitor will need this letter when they travel to Australia as it provides:
- their visa grant number
- the validity date of their visa
- the visa conditions.
This letter indicates whether the business visitor needs to have a visa label inserted in their passport. If a visa label is required, they must send their passport to the nearest departmental office in their country. They should read all the conditions listed on the visa label.
If a visa label is not required, airline staff will electronically confirm that the business visitor has the authority to travel to Australia when they check in for their flight.
If the visa is not approved
If the visa is not approved, the sponsor will receive notification by post or email. They may be able to request a review of the decision by the Migration Review Tribunal.
