Definitions

Benefit to Australia

a business activity is of benefit to Australia if:

  1. the conduct of the activity contributes to:
    1. the creation or maintenance of employment for Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents; or

    2. expansion of Australian trade in goods or services; or

    3. the improvement of Australian business links with international markets; or

    4. competitiveness within sectors of the Australian economy; and

  2. the operator of the business:
    1. introduces to, or utilises or creates in, Australia new or improved technology or business skills; or

    2. has a satisfactory record of, or a demonstrated commitment towards, training Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents in the business in Australia
