Air and Sea Crew

Step 2 - Applicant Applies for the Visa

You must apply for a visa to work in Australia on a temporary basis.

You cannot lodge your visa application before the sponsorship is lodged or approved, and your visa cannot be approved until the sponsorship is approved.

To lodge a visa application, you must identify a sponsor in your application, who is sponsoring your application and provide evidence that the person has either been approved as a superyacht crew sponsor or has applied for approval as a Superyacht crew sponsor.

Evidence includes:

  • sponsor name
  • sponsor application ID number (located on the approval letter provided by your sponsor)
  • a copy of the sponsor approval letter or receipt that the sponsor application has been lodged.

Passport details

Your visa will be linked to the passport number you use in your application and you must use the same passport to travel to Australia. You must hold a valid national passport. A seafarer’s identity document is not acceptable.

If you obtain a new passport, you must advise the Brisbane Global Processing Centre of the new passport details before you travel to Australia. Otherwise, you may not be permitted to enter Australia.

How and where to lodge your visa application

The quickest and easiest way to apply is to lodge your application online. Online applications are encouraged as they require just one simple electronic form to be completed and are lodged and processed much faster than paper applications.

You may complete a paper application form and send it by post, courier or fax to the Brisbane Global Processing Centre in Australia.
Fax: +61 7 3136 7474

With your knowledge and consent, a third party, such as a shipping agent, can complete and lodge your application on your behalf from information that you provide to the third party.

With your consent the third party may also be the contact person and authorised recipient for written communications about your application for a Superyacht Crew visa.

Please ensure that all information requested in the application is complete, accurate and up to date.
