Managing Australia's Borders

Document Requirements

On arrival in Australia, all passengers and crew arriving by sea must have both a valid passport and a valid visa or entry authority to satisfy a clearance officer for immigration clearance.

The master of the vessel is expected to ensure that all persons onboard have correct travel documentation, are the rightful holders of that documentation and that the documentation is valid. Passengers are also required to complete an Incoming Passenger Card which is available from Customs.

Ships' crew are not required to complete an Incoming Passenger Card (IPC).
