How and Where to Lodge an Application
If the child is in Australia when their application is lodged:
- the application must be lodged in Australia
- the child must be in Australia when the visa is granted.
If the child is outside Australia when their application is lodged:
- the application must be lodged outside Australia
- the child must be outside Australia when the visa is granted.
Outside Australia
Applicants should lodge their application with the nearest Australian mission:
- by post
- by courier
- in person.

Note: From 1 April 2009, failure to lodge a Dependent Child (Subclass 445) visa application in Australia at ACTRO will mean that no valid Dependent Child (Subclass 445) application has been made.
