Additional information can be provided to the department, in writing, at any time until a decision is made on the application.
If an applicant is requested by the department to provide more information, they will be given a date by which the information is required. After this date, the department will continue processing the application using all relevant information they have.
Interviews
If an applicant is invited to attend an interview, they must attend on the date and time agreed with the department.
Invitation to comment
If another person gives the department information that could result in the applicant being refused a visa, the department will generally give the applicant the opportunity to comment on the information, by a set date.
Change in circumstances
If you change residential address for longer than 14 days you must inform the department in writing or by telephoning the general enquiries line.

National Telephone Numbers
The department must be informed if:
- there is an addition or change to the person authorised to act on behalf of applicants in connection with the visa application
- the applicant or their family members intend to travel to or from Australia while their visa application is being processed
- the circumstances of the applicant's sponsor or assurer change.

Visa decision
If this visa is approved, a grant notification letter will be sent to the nominated email or postal address. This letter will confirm:
- the validity date
- visa grant number
- any conditions attached to your visa
- full details of what must be done next.
If this visa is not approved, a letter will be sent to the nominated email or postal address. This letter will advise the following:
- reasons for the refusal decision
- review rights (the sponsor can apply for review of the decision in Australia)
- the time limit for lodging an appeal.
