Application charge
There is an application charge for this visa. This will not be refunded if the application is unsuccessful, or if the application is withdrawn after lodgement. The application charge covers all dependents included in the application, as well as any siblings who are making their own applications at the same time and place.

Other costs
In addition to the application charge, the applicant will need to pay for any health examinations. The applicant may also be required to pay a charge for obtaining police checks. This charge varies from country to country. When the applicant is required to obtain their own police checks, they are personally responsible for all arrangements. There may be other costs associated with the application, such as translating documents into English

How and where to lodge your application
The child must be outside Australia when their application for the visa is lodged and when the visa is granted.
Applicants should lodge their application form, together with all necessary supporting documentation and the application charge, at an Immigration Office outside Australia:
- by post
- by courier
- in person.
Note: At some departmental offices outside Australia, an appointment must be made to lodge applications in person. A number of Immigration Offices outside Australia may have a Service Delivery Partner to provide Australian visa lodgement services. Applicants should check the website of the relevant departmental office for the application lodgement practice at that office.
