Application charge
There is an application charge for this visa. This will usually not be refunded if the application is unsuccessful, or if the application is withdrawn after it has been lodged.

Other costs
In addition to the application charge, you will need to pay for any health examinations. You may also be required to pay a charge for obtaining police checks. This charge varies from country to country. When you are required to obtain police checks, you are personally responsible for all arrangements. There may be other costs associated with the application, such as translating documents into English.

Adding family members to your application
In some circumstances, you may add dependent children to your application after it has been lodged, but before a decision has been made.
Processing priority
Within the family stream, parent and aged dependent relative visa applications are given a lower processing priority than other family members such as partners and children. Within the parent visa categories, the contributory parent category has a higher processing priority than the parent category.
How and where to lodge your application
Your application must be lodged in Australia and you must be in Australia when the visa is granted.
All Aged Dependent Relative (subclass 838) applications are processed at the Child and Other Family Processing Centre in Perth.
The application must be lodged in person or by post at either the Child
and Other Family Processing Centre (preferred) or your nearest state or territory
office.
