Migration to Australia and Comparisons with the United States: Who Benefits

Objectives of the study

The study investigates the impact of immigration on income distribution in Australia, and whether this impact varies according to the size and skill level of immigration into Australia. The study draws upon work undertaken in the Department of the relative economic and budgetary impact of immigration; the impact on income inequality and poverty and the social impacts and implications of high and low skill immigration. The study also compares the Australian experience with that of the US.
