Application to access data from the LSIA survey

You are able to access information on each question asked in the LSIA, and the response provided by each person surveyed. Data is available in four formats (detailed below).
The information has been confidentialised to remove personal identifiers.
Available formats
Data from the LSIA 1 and LSIA 2 are available in the following four formats:
- Fixed format ASCII
- SAS
- DBASE
- SPSS
Data from LSIA 3 is only available in Excel format.

Pricing
There is no charge to access data from the LSIA.
Erratum
A unit record file is the end-result of a very long and complex process. As a result some errors can occur. The attached spreadsheet identifies these errors and is essential reading for anyone planning to analyse survey data.

Specific User Requests
Clients who are interested in analysing some aspect of the LSIA, but who do not have access to the LSIA unit record may contact the LSIA data manager and providing details of their request.
User requests can be arranged by writing to the LSIA Data Manager or by sending an email:

The current pricing policy is as follows:
- For clients outside of the department, requests will be serviced at the rate of $105 per hour including GST. There is also an additional surcharge that varies depending on the number of cells of data that are ordered. Clients will be quoted a fee before the request is serviced.
- For clients within DIAC, requests will be serviced free of charge.
