Review of Personal Identifier Provisions Introduced in 2004 to Migration Act 1958 – Final Report 11 September 2009

This review was required by the Migration Legislation Amendment (Identification and Authentification) Act 2004 (No. 2, 2004) which inserted Part 4A in the Migration Act 1958 to enable the collection and use of 'personal identifiers' and clarified and enhanced the collection and use of 'identifying information' by the department for immigration purposes. The review also covers subsequent amendments to Part 4A of the Migration Act and the Australian Citizenship Act 2007.

The Report was tabled in both Houses of Parliament in March 2010.
