AMEP Preferred Tenderers Selected
Media Release - DPS 7/2003
Contract negotiations will begin this month with institutions selected as preferred tenderers to provide the Government's English tuition services for adult migrants in all states and territories for the next five years.
The Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) said today that it had completed its evaluation of tenders for the delivery of the Adult Migrant English Program across Australia.
The Program provides English language tuition for newly-arrived adult migrants and refugees from non-English speaking backgrounds to help them settle successfully in Australia.
The new contracts will start on 1 July 2003 and run until 30 June 2008.
In NSW and Victoria, which together account for nearly 80 per cent of all AMEP clients, consortium arrangements proposed by preferred tenderers will see the program engage with a range of specialist and community agencies such as universities, TAFEs, Adult Community Education providers and specialist child care providers.
Preferred tenderers were selected after a rigorous evaluation process which considered high quality responses from 13 tenderers.
"Financial and technical worth analyses were combined to arrive at an overall assessment of best "value for money" for the Commonwealth," the spokesperson said.
A list of the preferred tenderers is below.
