Media Release - DPS 100/2002
The Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) has selected Group 4 Falck Global Solutions Pty Ltd (Group 4) as the Preferred Tenderer to provide a range of services relating to the detention of unlawful non-citizens at immigration detention facilities around Australia and the management of those detention facilities.
Signing of a final contract will be subject to successful negotiations with Group 4 on the range of contractual and service delivery requirements that will govern the operation of detention services in Australia for at least the next four years. Negotiations will now commence between DIMIA and Group 4.
The detention services contract will include requirements for the provision of a comprehensive range of services including security, health, educational and recreational programs and facilities management.
The tender process resulted in a high quality field of potential services providers. All tender bids were evaluated on their merits in order to ensure that high service delivery standards would be met while achieving the best value for money for the Commonwealth.
Great care has been taken to ensure that the tender process was conducted according to the highest probity standards.
The tender submitted by Australasian Correctional Management Pty Ltd remains open should negotiations with Group 4 not be resolved successfully.
