Regional Migration Questions to be Answered at Expo

Media Release - DPS 80/2002

Staff from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) Melbourne Business Centre (MBC) will give advice on all aspects of regional migration at the Ballarat Business Growth Expo tomorrow as part of their focus on the "Year of the Outback".

Mr Vin Tully of the MBC said staff will be on hand to provide information and advice to local business, civic and government representatives and the general public on State Specific Migration Mechanisms and regional migration initiatives.

"Providing information and advice on how businesses can sponsor skilled workers from overseas to fill temporary vacancies, which cannot be filled in regional areas from the local labour market, will be a focus at the Expo," Mr Tully said.

DIMIA information booklets, employer nomination and visa application forms will be available from the DIMIA stand at the Expo whilst a visual presentation will outline the procedures involved in sponsoring skilled workers to Australia.

The Business Growth Expo will be held in Ballarat on 16 & 17 October 2002.
