Department Takes Services to the Illawarra Region
Media Release - DPS 3/99
Representatives of the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) will visit Wollongong next week as part of an ongoing strategy to provide immigration services in regions throughout New South Wales.
The visit, which is being organised in collaboration with the Illawarra Migrant Resource Centre, will include meetings with individual clients, community agencies and government representatives.
Two public information sessions will be held at the Wollongong Town Hall and Community Centre focusing on a range of Departmental services while individual appointments with Immigration officers will be available during the day.*
This is one of a number of regular visits to regions throughout NSW which are designed to alleviate the need for clients to travel sometimes hundreds of kilometres to access departmental services.
Several visits to the region have been planned for 1999, including a visit to Nowra on Wednesday 12 May and Warilla on Monday 21 June.
