Moving concern, 12-4-06

Dear Sir/Madam

Contrary to Mr Morris' letter (Moving concern, 12-4-06) claiming that the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs is only concerned for police in temporarily relocating detainees from Villawood detention centre, in fact both DIMA and the Minister have said repeatedly that the health and welfare of detainees, staff, the local community, visitors, police and protesters are our highest priority.

Perhaps Mr Morris could better familiarise himself with this issue by reading the material we have released publicly on our website, www.immi.gov.au.
