Visitors must comply with visa conditions
Letter to the Editor - The Age
3 November 2003
Dear Sir/Madam
I refer to Bobby and Chris Bailey's letter (White Australia - 01/11/03).
Australia has a non-discriminatory immigration program and people who apply to visit Australia must meet certain requirements, including health and character checks. This is true irrespective of which country they apply from. The nature and extent of the information visa applicants are required to provide is dependent on the assessed risk of the citizens of that country to either over-stay their visa or not return to their country at the expiration of their visa.
The Government has a duty to ensure that all visitors will comply with their visa conditions and return to their country of origin at the end of their holiday.
