- private and official visitors
- legal and consular services
- external government and non-government oversight bodies
- educational programs, including English-language instruction

A Client Consultative Committee (CCC) regularly convenes at each facility. The CCC provides opportunities for people in immigration detention to proactively participate in affairs that affect their quality of life by constructively contributing to the running of the facility. Among other things, they are encouraged to assist with the formulation of culturally appropriate meal menus and they offer ideas for the range of programs and activities on offer.
