Who can Use the SGP?

You can receive help under the SGP if you came to live in Australia in the last five years and:

  • are a humanitarian entrant
  • came to live with your family and your English is at a low level
  • belong to a group with large numbers of people still coming from your homeland
  • are a dependent of a skilled migrant living in a regional or rural area and your English is at a low level

How Can Organisations Help You?

Organisations can help you get information about other services available to help you with your daily needs, such as:

  • learn to speak English
  • find a house to live in
  • find a job
  • find people to care for your children
  • enrol your children in school
  • go to the doctor

Organisations also:

  • help new community groups get started
  • work with other service providers to provide culturally appropriate services to you
