What services does TIS National provide for English speakers?

TIS National provides interpreting services to English speakers to help them communicate with their non-English speaking clients.
Immediate telephone interpreting service
When you need an interpreter, telephone TIS National

The TIS National operator will need the following information:
- your organisation's client code (If you do not currently have a client code, this can be provided at the time of your request for service)
- the name of the client and their contact details
- the language or dialect you require.
The TIS operator will then connect you to an interpreter in the requested language and, if required, phone the non-English speaking client you wish to speak with.
Pre-booked telephone interpreting service
Pre-booking a telephone interpreter in advance will ensure that any special requirements can be catered for, and that the services of the highest qualified interpreter available can be secured for the time you nominate. This may be important if your interview is likely to be of long duration, or in a new and emerging or high-demand language.
Pre-booking a telephone interpreter is an effective and less expensive alternative to using an on-site service.
You will also need to pre-book an interpreter if you intend to make an overseas call through Conferlink.
To pre-book an interpreter, complete the Request for pre-booked telephone interpreter form and fax or email it to TIS.

Automated Telephone Interpreting Service (ATIS)
ATIS is a user-friendly service that lets our English speaking clients directly access an interpreter in one of TIS National's 18 high-demand languages.
English speakers dial a phone number that corresponds to the language required and then use the phone's keypad to select the services they need – similar to telephone banking.
The languages serviced by ATIS are: Arabic*, Bosnian, Cantonese, Croatian, Dari, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Khmer, Mandarin, Persian, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Somali, Turkish and Vietnamese.
*Note: ATIS does not service Sudanese Arabic.
ATIS users receive a 10 per cent discount off TIS National's immediate telephone interpreting charges.

On-site interpreting
When telephone interpreting is inappropriate, TIS National can arrange for an on-site interpreter to attend a location of your choice. On-site interpreting services can be arranged, subject to interpreter availability, for any location in Australia.
All on-site bookings must be made to TIS in writing. To request an on-site interpreter, fax an on-site booking form to TIS.
