Research
To know how clients learn about the AMEP and what methods of promotion are most effective, it is always best just to ask. A small number of clients have recently been asked about their thoughts on the best ways to tell new migrants about AMEP English lessons.
In short, research showed:
- Students like materials that are bright and friendly, using images that show a range of different people.
- Classes were said to be friendly – a chance to learn while making friends.
- The biggest influences for returning to classes after leaving prematurely are family, Centrelink and 'the boss' at work.
- Students watch some commercial television, read ethnic newspapers and listen to ethnic radio, and they are also very influenced by word-of-mouth from peers and family.
These results come from small groups of students and we are interested to know what other students think. If you have some interesting information to share, please email us.
