Delivering Assistance

Volunteers

Volunteers can provide a warm welcome to new arrivals when they first come to Australia, and can help them overcome the anxieties associated with moving to a new country.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with migrants and humanitarian entrants, the Refugee Resettlement Advisory Council's 'How You Can Help Migrants and Humanitarian Entrants - A Volunteer's Guide' provides information on how to get involved.

The Volunteer's Guide aims to encourage people from all walks of life to volunteer in helping migrants, refugees and other humanitarian entrants to settle into the Australian community.

The Volunteer's Guide targets current volunteers as well as potential volunteers, providing details of how the department's settlement services fit together, hints on how to make the most of your volunteering opportunities, and details of relevant contacts.

The Volunteer's Guide is available for download below, or you can contact your local DIAC State and Territory Office for a hard copy.
